Boyne TradFest 18th – 20th September 2026 (Synopsis)

Boyne TradFest returns to Drogheda from Friday, 18th September to Sunday, 20th September 2026 for a weekend celebrating traditional Irish music, song, dance, and heritage along the Boyne Valley.

The 2026 programme brings together renowned headliners, local talent, and interactive community events across a variety of Drogheda’s cultural venues and local pubs:

• Official Launch & Opening Events: Kicking off on Friday evening at the Highlanes Gallery with the newly commissioned work Caomhnú Lú – For the Birds by composer Donnchadh MacAodha (featuring the Music Generation Louth Harp Ensemble), followed by the official festival opening (Oscailt Oifigiúil na Féile) with acclaimed duo Caitlín Nic Gabhann & Antóin Mac Gabhann.

• Headline Concerts: High-profile performances from top-tier traditional musicians, including rare dance-band energy from At The Racket (featuring John Carty, Brian McGrath, Séamus O’Donnell, and Michael McCague).

• Masterclasses & Instrumental Workshops: Hands-on tuition and masterclasses held over the weekend across various instruments, singing, and percussive dance taught by master tutors.

• Festival Session Trail: Spontaneous, free traditional music sessions running throughout the weekend across Drogheda’s pubs and venues.
